October 10 I know you're going to hate me, but....I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't love doing them (well, I kinda do), but I love the "bang for the buck," if you will.
Pushups are not only great for the chest, but they are also great for the core and the arms. People generally have this idea that pushups are only for big bulky men, are the "toughest exercise ever," and that doing them will make you look like 'The Incredible Hulk' (yeah right, you wish).
The truth is that the pushup is great for men and women alike. Yeah sure-they have great aesthetic benefits--tighter and stronger chest, core, bi's and forearms--but you want to know my favorite part? The fact that you can do them anywhere, anytime, and continue to challenge yourself without needing any fancy equipment. Stuck in a hotel room? Pushups! Bored at home? Pushups! Don't have time for a full out weight-lifting workout--you guessed it, pushups! On a deserted island? You get the point!
All you need is your bodyweight, and you can continue to change up the number of repetitions and sets, so you never have an excuse not to get your workout on.
Here is a step-by-step "how to."
There is also a 2-minute pushup test with guidelines for men and women, based on age group. Click here.
Also, be sure to check out my picture gallery so you can get a visual reference of the pushup.
To your health,
