September 19 Wake Up, Work OutWhen you have a busy and stressful day (isn't that everyday?), the first thing that is likely to go out of the window is your intentions--no matter how good--to workout. So here's a thought--just get it over with first thing in the morning, and then you don't have to spend all day making excuses not to workout (I'm tired, I've had a hard day, I'll wake up tomorrow and do an extra hard workout--you know the things you tell yourself). Jennifer Nicole Lee, who is possibly the fittest woman in the world--let alone mother of two--and one of my favorite fitness icons, is always pushing working out first thing in the morning. In her spread in the latest Fitness Rx issue shares research that shows that working out for 20 minutes (yes, only 20!!!) first thing in the morning, before you even have your first meal, has been proven to be as effective as an hour or longer workout. She also gives a good tip: put your sneaks right next to your bed so that first thing in the morning so you don't have time to make excuses about all the reasons you cannot workout. I have found a great article on MSN that gives six easy moves you can squeeze into your morning on days when you have no time to exercise.
